The message, from a person we’ll call “Harold,” started by asserting that “race was an archaic construct which has been dismissed by the scientific community,” so any discussion regarding racism was outdated and irrelevant.
Earlier this year, I listened to the Seeing White podcast series from SceneOn Radio. They interviewed Suzanne Plihcik from the Racial Equity Institute, and she said this about this topic: “Anthropologists finally say, and it is way past due, that race is anthropological nonsense. Is that the same thing as saying it’s not real? No. No, because it’s real. It is powerfully real. It’s politically and socially real.”
I really liked how she summed that message up and thought I’d share. I enjoyed your article, thank you for sharing!
